necessary work + I love looking at the art ("Portrait of a young woman" p.93!) but it lacks a more scientific approach; no footnotes? No backing up dumped information? Was the term "middle class" even coinced in 1609 (anachronism?). Is the author using the term within the american perception or within the european perception, since she's literally talking about Europe? Maybe she meant the (petite)bourgeoisie class?
