I skipped a lot of the web-dev tutorials, because I found a lot of them were either out of date, or have since been replaced by better ones. Nothing against this chapter, but I prefer just to focus on the language itself.

Protocols and records look neat, but their usage in these examples seem like over-kill. That said, I know she's trying to keep the problems simple, so I can focus on the actual language features.
