"In the old days at home the Neverland had always begun to look a little dark and threatening by bedtime... and above all, you lost the certainty you would win. You were quite glad that the night-lights were on... Of course the Neverland had been make-believe in those days; but it was real now, and there were no nightlights, and it was getting darker every moment, and where was Nana?"

This book is creepy as hell, good lord. It is so difficult to disregard my exposure to the adaptations when reading/analyzing this novel (largely Peter and Wendy I am referencing), but wow is it worth it. I was not expecting to be so entertained, I am so invested. The novel is a whole other world than the Disney movie adaptation. Reading Intertextually adds so much to it too (Treasure Island and Paradise Lost etc)
