Jayson
Jayson is on page 32 of 126

Notes:
(1) The protagonist is named Dashiell, presumably after Dashiell Hammett.
- A bit on-the-nose since this starts off hard-boiled as all heck.
(2) I do think Aaron's overdoing it with all the Indian-specific terms and turns of phrase in the dialogue.
- I doubt actual people use words like powwow, rain dance, dog soldier, etc. in everyday talk. But then, what do I know?

Jayson’s Previous Updates

Jayson
Jayson is finished

Notes:
(1) To me, the main purpose of this first arc is to introduce you to the world and get you hooked into reading more.
- There really isn't any plot beyond Dashiell going home again, after a long absence, and everyone reacting to his return.
- What makes this special are the characters, and how the more you learn about them, the more raw and fatally-flawed they become.

Jayson
Jayson is on page 79 of 126

Notes:
(1) I'm enjoying this, but it's intense, so it's not like I'm breezing through it.
- It's one where you really need to pause and take a breath.
- Reminds me a lot of "Deadwood," especially all the profanity.
(2) Three issues in, and there's been some excellent character definition.
- Carol, presumably the love interest, is particularly well fleshed-out and memorable.

Jayson
Jayson is starting

Notes:
(1) So, I've had all five hardcover deluxe editions of this series sitting on my shelf since 2017. I always mean to read it, but the stars never quite aligned.
- I figure, it's either read it now, or wait another eight years.
(2) Even though I own the deluxe editions, I'm going to review these in trade since I don't like to juggle multiple volumes in a single review.
