i’m on the “emotion” chapter and man, i appreciate the authors observations from his field work more than the rest of the arguments. genuinely, the best way to view this shi is to observe a natural habitat over a long period of time🗣️

also it’s cool to read about hearing adaptations. reasoning behind weird traits is always cool

I just finished the first chapter about eyesight. It seems like most discoveries about the eyesight for birds at least were based solely off of behavior. Kinda weirds me out because it is obviously super different for paleontology, which has been my focus for a while now. I do like this book a lot though. The author makes the info really easy to digest for an audience uneducated in ornithology.
