I feel like a philistine because I'm nearly halfway through, and I'm not loving it. I'm still teetering on the edge and may still DNF. The disjointed narrative structure and all the (trigger warning) pedophilia are both not my favorite. Everyone says this is such an incredible book, so I keep hanging in there.

to be honest, this didn't SOUND like something I'd like, or something I'd pick up on my own if it had not been mentioned in this ecocriticism book. It just sounded like something worth reading because of it's connection to environmental issues - but sounds like I may take it off my tbr (and as you said to me, it is ok to dnf even at 50% - I'm going to try harder to do that in the future if I know it isn't working for me).
