Jayson
Jayson is starting

Notes:
(1) Well, it took a bit of effort to get into this series—it's a lot to take in and get accustomed to—but by the end of the first book I can say I'm fully invested.
- That finished on a bit of a cliffhanger, so hopefully it's a sign the series will be more plot-focused going forward, now that we've got the pieces in place and more or less know everyone's motivations.

Jayson’s Previous Updates

Jayson
Jayson is finished

Notes:
(1) So, this ended up being a jigsaw puzzle of a story where each issue fills in more and more of the picture outlined in the first issue here.
- The casino opening is the nexus point of plot and interaction, and the lens through which we understand how characters view their own Indianness.
(2) While not a cliffhanger, the end does set up the next book as a whodunit.

Notes:
(1) Okay, I definitely spoke too soon when I said that the first two issues were two sides of the same coin, because it looks like every issue in this arc is like that.
- At least so far, every issue profiles a character and shows the same night's events from their perspective.
(2) Indian heritage and responsibility continue to be themes here with Diesel and Catcher.

Notes:
(1) Issues #6-7 are two sides of the same coin, not just because they show the same scene from different perspectives.
- We get flashbacks to key moments in the lives of Dashiell and Red Crow that inform us on their respective world views.
- In short, Dashiell wants nothing to do with the reservation and his Indian heritage whereas it's Red Crow's whole raison dêtre.
