This was an interesting read as someone who has worked with kids who were institutionalized for problematic behaviors. It shows the difficulties the family faces due to behaviors being publicized, the masking needed in order to adjust to society after being away for so long, the feeling of being misunderstood, shame, guilt, remorse, grief. Trauma is not a one size fits all and everyone lives through it differently.
