(1) I guess the moral of the story, or rather the tragic lesson learned, is there's no leaving the rez, not physically nor mentally.
- Dino's dreams of upward mobility come crashing down to earth by threats, gunpoint and chronic bad luck.
- Red Crow tries to be a good man, but is stuck in a permanent grey area when it comes to protecting what's under his stewardship.

(1) With Dino and Red Crow, we continue the theme of juxtaposing the lives and choices of two characters.
- Both are trusted with bundles, albeit of different sorts, which leads Dino down a path of corruption and Red Crow down a path to redemption.
(2) We get a flashback melee between the Dog Soldiers and some hippies.
- Just goes to show they are not natural allies.

- It makes me think, is "Scalped" literary fiction? Because, last volume especially, it's been much more about meaning and reactions to events than any appreciable plots.
