So far in the story, a newly elected American president with the motto "Make America Great Again" is dismantling federal agencies, privatizing government services, repealing minimum wage laws, and removing consumer and worker protections. The wealthy are obsessed with colonizing Mars, and runaway inflation has destroyed the country.
