I'm over halfway through and I can confidently say that despite how interesting it is, I hate this book. Most of the characters are horrible people, and not just morally grey- outright terrible people. I've liked very few characters and stories and yet I continue to read through this depressing book. Like- spoiler alert- but there was a Spanish-American war recently over some problem of imperialism or whatever. Ughhh
