Jayson
is finished

Notes:
(1) After a long stretch of stories focused on supporting characters, this finishes strong with an issue centered on Dashiell.
- He essentially spends the whole time drugged up and out-of-it (possibly symbolic of his roughly eight-issue absence), and cheats death by dumb luck.
(2) We also find out who killed Gina and the two FBI agents, which we kind of already knew.

Notes:
(1) We get backstory issues for Diesel and Baylis. Once again, there's a focus on identity, belonging and loyalty.
- Diesel's a Texas Kickapoo until he's denied. Then he wants to be an Oklahoma Comanche until he's rejected. Ultimately, he's done seeking acceptance.
- Nitz has loyalty to his two slain comrades, and only to them. An obsession that costs him his family.

Notes:
(1) The first issue is about a conman stopping by the rez to scam the casino.
- Seemingly ancillary until the twist ending.
(2) The conman's a complete contrast to the locals. He has no name nor identity and never stays too long in any one place.
- Conversely, land and identity mean everything to the locals. A fact the conman repeatedly seeks to understand but can't.

Notes:
(1) After a bit of a hiatus, I expect this to focus much more on Dashiell and Carol.
- Dashiell gracing the cover may be a giveaway, but you can never tell with cover art. Often they're just meant to look cool.
- I say "hiatus" because even though their relationship and struggles were the focus of last volume's opening two-parter, plot movement was pretty negligible.
