There's an art to writing the unknown in history. This book has an uncertainty that gets very neurotic and annoying very quickly. Everywhere you turn, he could have thought x, y, and z but we will never know. There's a way to write this successfully, painting the unknown without too much speculation. Idk I find it a bit irritating. I left it behind on a trip.
