The campaign is still happening and Mattie is trying to finish the extra credit world affairs project which is a documentary of the campaign, Nelson likes Mattie and they are partners in the assignment, but they need a camera man, who is her neighbor, and her crush.

Minerva is over at Mattie's house with her friends Nelson and Heather to help out with flyers for the next campaign speech Minerva has. Her competitor Harvey is throwing a street carnival that same day, just to get in the way of things, that is until Nelson brought in a new idea for the speech day.

in my book I have finally figured out that it is set in the 90's era. Mattie is in a pickle, she has got her essay started about the upcoming election. Though she has done the essay her world affairs teacher assigned an extra credit assignment that includes her and another boy named Nelson who has a big fat crush on her.

Mattie is still working on her paper, and she is trying to interview her mom to get information on Minerva, the lady who is running for there towns election. Her mom is caught up in making dinner and there are a lot of things going on like paramedics practicing in their neighborhood and the Davis's next door being chaotic.

Mattie is still trying to decide what to write on, meanwhile Pru and Author are trying to get an award for the best rock band.

Mattie is still trying to figure something out for her world affairs essay but she is sidetracked by thinking of a boy. Cam Davis the 9th grade boy next door who is "disgustingly hot"

So far two friends Heather and Mattie are writing world affairs essays on "what can I do to help the world" and Heather is locked in on what she wants to write about but Mattie has no idea.
