I read this as a child when I was fully integrated into religion and I was curious if it held up as a religious parallel, specifically Christianity. I remember thinking how this book stood out as more sci fi than I was ever allowed access to and how it was odd. As an adult I still feel that it deviates a bit from the typical message of religion but it is absolutely from the same vein as a C. S. Lewis novel.
