So far this reads like a soap opera. I don't have a vested interest in the characters either mainly because the author spends pages on internal dialogue rambling on if they should feel this way or that way... So far I know nothing about the Vampire world she has created either. It was just one sentence of oh I drink blood.

The way it reads is sort of like a sequel. The author doesn't really describe the Vampire world she's created in detail. It's almost as if you should just already know.
