I am a third of the way through, and still have no idea what the point of this book is, or will be. I have ideas of what the characters want, but don't know how that'll work out, if it will, and don't really think I want it to for most of them?
Nellie is good; I think she'll be alright, if saddened by life, and that makes me glad.
Miss Bronte knows how to paint a picture, dismal, but a thorough picture nonetheless.

If there is a redeeming quality at the end, which I still struggle to imagine, but still hope, I don't see how it could make all of this worth reading.
Have you read this? Abandoned it? What did you think?

What is the point of this book? Why bother going on? Because of "Jane Eyre", written by this author's sister, which is one of the most beautiful and deep and heart rending books I've ever read. It inspired and touched me deeply, even a time after the reading.
I keep hoping there'll be some redemption to this book, some purpose to this intolerable madness by the end. But I begin to doubt...

I can't think of another book I've read with such a collection of babies parading as adults. Or, adults acting like less than babies. With the sense of babies. It's disgusting. Gag worthy and worthy of throwing the whole book in the trash. I'm honestly tempted to, like I've rarely been before.

I don't think I've ever read another book with such a thoroughly wicked man as the one in this. None. The only one that comes close to mind is Peter, from "Ender's Game", yet so much worse.
