My lady Ludlow - this story confused the hell out of me , I found it almost too descriptive and thus I lost where I was in the narrative. However , it explores the narrative of an elderly aristocratic woman through the lens of her housemaid and her beliefs on education , religion and women. Explores the villagers lives and her story ( through the French Revolution) and eventually her ability to accept change.

Cranford - a group of elderly women in a quaint village going through daily life with all its trials and tribulations. The village entirely led by women and often against the shackles of marriage. Great sub plots of Poor Peter who returns from India and the closure of a bank who one is invested in. A tale of compassion and coming together ! True Gaskell style.

Dr Harrison’s confessions
A young new doctor arrives in the village and is firstly introduced to the various village people, often having differing medical opinions to his practice partner. A romantic trivia occurs when he is supposedly engaged to 3 women , except the one he truly loves. Almost a tale of how sometimes people need to move with the times rather than be stuck in the same ways.
