I won't finish this book any time soon. I am much disappointed now.

I had this book laying around now for a while, after I started it with initially great enthuasiasm. I thought that the book would be a deep philosophical investigation into very classical topics of philosophy, and maybe even in a much more classical style than one is to by contemporary philosophers. I soon realized that I was mistaken and that additionally, Ryle is not even very coherent. Anyways, I start anew.

I didn't expect this book to be so deep. Only 17 pages in and Ryle begins to grapple with the question whether being constitutes a genus. I admit, that I expected a historically ignorant hit-piece on proper Cartesianism and all kinds of its alleged remnants, like in Wittgenstein's Über Gewissheit.
