Is this a Matrix thing? I feel like I remember chapters named after car song titles from the 50s? Maybe that was exclusive to the first edition or I’m thinking of another book?

I don’t want to generalize, but I remember parents like the Cunninghams back in the day. Not the shrill hysteria of the mother so much as having zero understanding of what their kid was going through and why something like the right car feels so fucking important to them. Thank the gods for friends like Dennis. 🥹

In my edition, there’s lyrics from old car songs at the beginning of each chapter.

They must have cut them in later editions to save on costs. It costs a lot of money to put song lyrics in a book.
