reading some reviews and i'm incredibly off-put by the amount of people who critique the repetition in the first half. i don't think this is a trivial thing that should've been scrapped. the soldier's mundane routine and obsession with cleanliness is so clearly reiterated to speak as to how disgusting his crimes are. the infection devours his body to reflect the rotten nature of what he's about to do
