Took me a while to get into it, there was a bit of a bleh period for me just after the flight (but that might have been a me-thing also). But then she reels me back in with an amusingly perfect metaphor or simile lol, like "Sometimes Mum and Michelle couldn’t quite get their footwork right in the dance of conversation."

Also tbh I rarely read Australian contemporary fiction so in some ways it actually feels slightly odd to read about normal people doing normal stuff lmao
