I am underwhelmed with the dynamic of meeting Xaden’s mother. To be honest, I was hoping for a better reason for her leaving him and his father. I am holding out for a stronger redemption arc for her and Xaden. Especially since she wasn’t a part of the poison attempt. Also, Garrick BETTER live! I will not take another close friend dying. Yarros got too close with Sawyer in Book #2.

Ch. 41 is my favorite. First, I love that the irids make it possible for everyone to hear them. The dialogue is great between the six. BUT they say to never meet your heroes. Andarna’s excitement to tell her story and meet her kind is sweet, but by the end of this I am hurt for her. Everything she said only made the first six disappointed, and she’s a sensitive teen. I hope she’s as resilient as her human.

This page just needs to be marked. Violet is coming into her power and leadership nicely. Once Xaden channeled it was hard to say what would happen next. But her ability to not only extract him so no one could see the proof of what he did but to also rectify how the rest of negotiations would take place was PHENOMENAL. She’s not the weak one from Book one. Silver One is turning into THAT GIRL!
