i’m only on page 20 but yet i’ve finished two short stories, that of rashōmon and in the bamboo grove. colour me thoroughly impressed so far!! these collections of stories may be short, but wow does he paint such a vivid picture that evokes intense emotion!!
rashōmon is a 4/5 for me. it’s literally just a few pages. but it’s so unique in the perception of evil vs survival.
in the bamboo grove is 5/5. wow

need to write more haha. the bamboo story depicts a murder and several different testimonies, even ending with the truth from a spiritual confession by the deceased. i’m impressed just how invested i became for such a short story. i’m excited to continue reading
