I honestly struggle with that kind of person on my life too 🙈
Just keep being nice to them… but maybe if yall are hanging out and he says something about hanging out again, say something like, “well I do have a lot going on in my life and there’s things that I want to do so I can’t hang out all the time… maybe we can hang out (insert a day like: every other Friday) or something?”
That way you’re telling him you really don’t like hanging out, but you care still and will hang out with him still, but not all the time 👍🏻

I wouldn’t ever give him a solid answer to when you can hang out and if he’s not even paying attention when you do. I would also just start slowly not being around him. And I would just not respond for a while after he texts you but still make sure to text back just not right away. Hope this helps and I hope that everything works out!!
