"The Social Triangle" is a great story about those who we look up to and who they look up to. The twist was slightly obvious, but how O.Henry got there was great

"The Love-Philtre of Ikey Schoenstein" is short and to the point. Ikey, educated pharmacist is well respected, but shy. He is friends with a man who loves the woman he also loves. His friend asks for a "love potion," an Ikey pretends to oblige while sabotaging his friend's plan. Hilarity, and a heartwarming character change, ensues.

"The Gift of the Magi" is one of my favorite short stories ever, and rereading it brought a smile. Dipping into this book at random times has been great

Interestingly, this collection starts with one of my least favorite O. Henry stories. I picked this up because I remember that I loved the stories I read by him when I was younger, but "The Plutonian Fire" did not work for me.
