As a lover of ancient Greek language and culture, and an advocate for women scholars, I was eager to get into this bio about the author of the most famous, popular book about Greek mythology in English. I'm about 4 chapters in, and I'm not enthusiastic. The prose is wooden. There are too many details about irrelevant relatives. Edith hasn't come through as a distinct personality yet. But I'm sticking with it.
