easy read so far. It's a bit more verbose than my taste is. I much preferr Introduction to Information Retrieval writing styles. Nonetheless, first 3 chapters lay the groundwork of modern IR systems, e.g, knowledge graph, LLM, recommendation which is really nice. I'm thinking writing my own engineer, protyping in Julia and do real implementation with Rust ... sounds fun 😆

A disappointing chapter. I thought they gonna dive into details of designing boosting & filtering in IR, but they only briefly mention it, showing a bit of syntax from Solr ... no insight to the underlaying mechanism.

So far so good, it says search and recommendation are in fact one solution being viewed from 2 perspectives, which is also my opinion on the 2 systems.
