Goldinggay is clearly very familiar with Isaiah. I feel like he also fails to read it as Christian scripture, and instead reads it more as any historical prophetic document. It has been quite awhile since reading this, so maybe I’m wrong. But his reading reminded me of Jesus’ critique of the Jews’ reading of Scripture in John 5.

Yeah I appreciate his familiarity and close readings too. I am excited to read some excerpts from his ICC commentary here soon. So far it seems his purpose isn't to jump into Christological or Christian readings of Isaiah, but to read Isaiah on its own terms--not that I think he doesn't value either of these other interpretive methods. At the end of chapter one, he distinguishes between Isaiah's "meaning" versus its ongoing "significance." He isn't denying that we should read Isaiah as Christian Scripture or that it doesn't have ongoing significance but pointing out that Isaiah's own personal voice and meaning matters and that this has value in being heard before jumping to later Christians interpretations.
