"i think that if you have to ask what it takes, then maybe you don't have it. it's kind of an instinctive thing. there's not a rule book for it. i just think you have to want it so bad that you're willing to give up everything." (ann wilson)

lowkey irritated that this book is about women in rock music... but when referring to the feminist movement, they often refer to the 60s/70s and not the work done today. for a book written recently, don't you think that there should be more contemporary women rockstars who have something additional to say about the music industry? i'm finding it hard to believe that these women are the only "valid" female rockstars.

"... joan jett emulated this approach to great success, finding major stardom with hits such as "i love rock and roll" and her swaggering image. 'other people call me a rebel, but i feel like i am just living my life and doing what i want to do. sometime people call that rebellion, especially when you're a woman..'"
