Lol I have seen some sincere bullying on here with language like you wouldn’t believe. This seems pretty tame. But, you did call them a name, which does take it beyond scathing response to their review and into hostile insult territory, which technically does violate community guidelines imo. But now I gotta see this comment that started it, because this is hilarious
Yeah I can see why it got reported. I think you fed a troll by accident lol. Who would try to say that ASOIAF *is not good* in part because of the detailed descriptions it’s famous for, and sincerely mean it?
Thanks for the feedback Maria! Yeah it was definitely a hostile insult. The original comment was definitely inane. (Hope this doesn't get flagged for use of "inane" LOL)
Yes, I also think that the use of "stupid" and the name caused the threat. Because if the rest of your comment had caused the flag then the original comment would have been flagged too (as you copy their style). Perhaps you can post your reply again without the offending words. The original poster needs to be reminded that "dark" need not mean rapey haha.
I also got a comment removed because I told off a bigot. It rhymes with buck ov. The bigot who said something racist wasn't censured. Frankly they should let us fight fire with fire, especially if they won't put out the original flamethrower
yeah I sure do wish they would. there just seems to be such an arbitrariness to their decisions, depending on whether a comment gets flagged or not. when I pushed back and asked specific questions about why they made this decision, their response was laughable: "we don't share details about investigations or moderation processes" - LOL, whatever. such a nothing response.but, when looking at Community Guidelines, my insults were actually out of compliance. so I shall try to abide by the guidelines.
the hypocrisy is just so grating though. there's a comment earlier in that review thread that calls the review bullshit. I have also been called some pretty harsh names over the years. but since I didn't flag these comments, and I usually don't delete them (they have to be pretty over the top for that)... they remain. the lack of fairness from by Goodreads decision-makers on this topic is grating! I guess it comes from only reviewing flagged comment. well, I suppose I prefer that to them reviewing everything all the time.

"Tell me you don't know my tastes in dark fantasy without telling me you don't know my tastes in dark fantasy.
I have news for you, if you think this is good, you should try reading Song of Ice and Fire or some Joe Abercrombie, or if you like science fiction, some Iain Banks or Alastair Reynolds. Also look into the work of past masters of dark fantasy like Tanith Lee or Glen Cook. Those are examples of dark fantasy (or dark science fiction) that are actually good. On the other hand, this book is an example of dark fantasy that is actually bad. I'm sorry you can't tell the difference?
See, two can play your stupid game, lackwit.
Next time try to avoid typing up some dull and lazy attack post and instead try constructing an actual argument before posting."

I'm genuinely curious if folks think I breached Community Guidelines!
