Rereading this for class after some five odd years.
I didn’t notice during my last reading that there’s an interesting yearning and jealousy for shared interiority and memory, even if that interiority and memory is of a shared generational trauma. Primarily through Denver toward Sethe, Beloved, and Paul D.
Another thought is that this is prime gothic horror (and obvs historical fiction)
