Funny thing, this story reminded me of another one by Dick in terms of style and storytelling: "In Milton Lumky Territory", one of the few mainstream novels that he wrote. I checked his bibliography and saw that both novels were written in the same year: 1958! Book is great, though slow paced. Classic Dickian theme of distorted reality.
