Ive finished it. What an amazing, heartfelt and precious book. The telling/translation beautiful, this book was handled with passion and care by Madeline, and I dont think i will be getting over this book soon :(

WELL SHIT ACHILLES DIED… but he died with a smile. Because he knew that he would finallu be with Patroclus. Ive yet to research the people he killed , a person and a woman i think- but their ashes mixed, but buried with only achilles name :(

Also when Pat talks to Odysseus, and he persuades Pyrrhus- yay Ody did smth right!!! Also I hate Prryhus. BRISEIS DEATH IS ALSO SO SO TRAGIC. SHE WAS FREE.

Gonna try finish it! Hector is dead, but it doesnt matter anymore to Achilles. Its confusing how Briseis is right, how he was selfish, and let him fight on the field. Though, I cannot imagine how Achilles is feeling- living up to a reputation he is expected to, for ballads and tales, yet it cost the life of his love :(

Even Thetis recognises, and cannot help him. The scene where he thinks Patroclus is alive..

Achilles being absolutely being betrayed by everyone, and everyone hating him DESERVED but still sad.

Sooo… from what I remember Agamemmnon is holding Briseis captive- and the two (Pat & Bri) Exchange words in Anatolian. Achilles still does not fight. Paris has challenged suposedly Achilles, but Menaus stands up for Helen’s return. He loses, and Odysseus goes to Achilles n says “ay i think its time to kill Hector, its been 10 years- youre running this thread too long.” And Achilles is quiet… IM SCARED.

Patroclus is so… truthful. And so humble too, hes also such a good friend. I sometines forget hes a exile
But the exchange with Pat and Agammemon was interesting- knowing he is superstitious and such it kept me on edge. The dynamic between Pat and Achilles- Chills. I have chills. There were wounds, but no true anger. The argument ends bittersweet, strange how its comforting… :(

AGAMMEMNON IS FKING SELFISH. He is literally jealous of a prince who can be selfless for once… and Achilles. Giving up BRISEIS.
Briseis wasnt my personal fave but she was kind, her & Pat’s friendship was unmatched. And now shes taken away, all because Achilles pride is too great, and hes afraid of not beibg famous. IM SO PISSED OFF. And the desc of Pat’s anger is AMAZING for some reason?? Ts pmo

BUT OMG Patroclus is a healer now! Its nice you see them have a lik friend group of Phoinix, Briese, Achilles, Automedon and himself. But after the sacrifice for Apollo… BRISIES NOOOOOOO 😭 “If i ever took a wife, it would be you.” “But you dont want a wife.” ONG??? PLS IM SCARED I THOUGHTS YOUS WERE ONLY BESTIES NO

Achilles first few raids, Patroclus is so worried for him it hurts. Soon Achilles claims his ‘War Prize’ (Brises i think? 3) shes freed by Patroclus and Achilles- and to prove they wouldnt do her any harm Pat kissed Achilles OHHH MY GODDDD YESS 💖💖💖 I GIGGLED
But im so glad the farm girls are learning Greek by Pat and they are rescued one by one- im just wondering if they will find out…
