The series in my childhood as a whole left its impacts on me, but this prequel I remember picking up in a fervor state, initially being bored of (I was ten) and then utterly changed by Rose's climatic choice and fight against the Lord of the Locusts. The panel of the dragon's mute, numb stare at Rose, as the town cheers for her is harrowing in the realization that you know she has doomed them all.
