added a status update
I used to spend at least half an hour just about every morning looking at my Goodreads home page. Today it was about 3 minutes. There is just nothing here now that encourages me to linger.

Same here. I find it difficult to see what my contacts and friends think or read.

In what way has it changed. Mine is still the same although I have a notice at the top of the page that the new homepage is "rolling out this week". I guess Librarians have a preview?
It's hard to remember what the old one looked like. But specifically...1. There is no longer a date at the bottom of an update, and my updates feed is so long that I am not sure what I've already looked at. Is this a new review or an old one?
2. When a friend of mine has rated a book, I can only see what their rating is, not mine too. (It only says I've read it.) I like to see if we rated it similarly or not. That might inspire me to comment. And I would like to know when we both read it.
3. It feels like less of a review is showing before I have to open it up.
4. Half of the home page shows MY stuff. What I'm reading now, all of my book shelves. I don't need to look at this on a daily basis.
5. The size of the book covers are HUGE. They all just seem to run together and I feel like I'm just looking at a long list of random books. And when I enlarge my screen so that I don't have to look at the left half of the screen (my info), it makes them even bigger.
6. When I did some "exploring" via the "browse" tab (I read the August newsletter), I couldn't get back to my home page - the tool bar across the top was missing. I had to press my go-back button 4 times to get back to that option. It was either that or close the tab and start all over again.
7. I can no longer post a general update with seperate paragraphs. It all combines into 1 long paragraph.
This is only the 2nd day I've used the new format, and I must say I HATE IT!
It's awful. And you have to go to a new page to read a book description or even see the rating! And then you are lost in your feed.
I tried to write another "general update" today, but I no longer have that option. It will not allow me to post it. Has this happened to anyone else? Am I now considered a rabble-rouser?
As a matter of fact, my "general update" comment was going to be positive. I don't know if this is a change, or if I just missed it, but the date/time of a posting is in the upper right corner and when the book was read is also now visable. All valuable information to me.
It all seems very crowded at the top, then a loooong scroll in the middle. Comments have been twitterized too (time since posting). I suppose I'll get used to it, but I liked the old homepage as it was.
I'll have to remember not to update the Goodreads app on my iPhone. I like it the way it is and don't want it changed to look like the one on the Mac.
I just looked at my Updates through the GR app. (It was a bit strange to me because I have been using the desktop view.) It was laid out more to my liking, but no one's General Status updates showed up. I had to go to Notifications to see your comment Claude.I guess it's like Sarah said, I'll just have to get used to all this. BIG SIGH.
