Enjoying the plot so far. Not enjoying the lack of contractions. There’s a lot of “is not” and “cannot”. Personally, I would have used the contractions but maybe that’s just me? Could also have been intentional as the author explains the FMC’s grandmother is attempting to make her more “lady-like”. Still thoroughly interested in what’s going to happen though.
