Looks like it’s becoming a tradition for me to read this book every 5 years or so. I’ve yet to discover another one with the same feeling of being trapped in a delightfully dreadful dream world — only a dream world with very real stakes.

It’s perfectly suited to my tastes, but might not be for everybody. Make sure you at least make it to Balian meeting the Father of Cats before giving up (maybe 40-50 pages in or so). That’s when it really starts to take off into nightmarish bliss for me.
Good to know! I think I stopped right around there; hard to get my mind around the dreaminess and trying to figure out just what is going on!
