I just realized exactly how annoying this new front page update is. Fyi, the powers that be of this site really get on my last nerves. I especially hate that I have to see a huge book everytime someone does anything on here now. Seeing the book over and over again just annoys me, it doesn't make me want to read it. And lol at them saying it's faster. It seems to be freezing on me.

I never use the GR on computer, but only on my iPad, and I kinda got used to its utter uselessness when it comes to interactions. Eg, I can't tag people in replies, so I never know if they are alerted to my responses. Similarly, I have no idea when someone replies to my comments. I wonder if the GR developers actually use GR, since it seems to be more about looks than usability.

Just in case: if you look right under the bottom of the comment box, you'll see "Notify me when people reply". I have that enabled. Do you?
But yeah, I really don't think the developers use it. But I also don't think it's up to them. Some higher ups wants GR to be like Facebook and to have a ton of ads and huge book covers, so now we have it. Their feedback group is primarily for show, IMO.
It's a mess, especially on an iPhone. I often use safari for GR since their app is useless for a lot of stuff, and it's even harder to read than it was before.
Surprisingly, I don't mind the (totally messy) new home page on my phone. Mostly because I can expand the screen so that I don't have to see the stupid GR recommendations and posts or my books. On my tablet and computer, though, it's a rather frustrating experience. Super wrong move from TPTB.
By the way, I haven't had any freeze ups on any device...yet. *knocks on wood

Once you tick that box it will stay like that for all notifications until you go back and change it. The only drawback is that you can get random notifications from a post you looked at years ago lol, but you can then unfollow that post.
