books like this tend to over-explain and over-describe in such a way that they lend no authenticity to the characters. not a bad book at all, and i think it is important to read filler books occasionally, but it completely lacks narrative voice. all character traits are revealed through description alone, no dialogue, differences in narration, thought patterns etc
