The essay whitewashes ETIM 1000+ terrorist attacks in Xinjiang, and the 1000s of salafi jihadis fighting along side HTS, Jabhat Al Nusra (formerly Al Qaeda in Iraq), ISIS, etc. In 2025, they've participated in massacring 1000s of Alawite, Shiite and Christian civilians.

It's incredibly disappointing. Are the editors ignorant or willfully blind? Didn't they vet the contributors? This is an ongoing problem with the publisher Haymarket books. Are they intentionally manufacturing consent? So frustrating!
