Going to Melbourne tomorrow. We were going to Sydney (and we still may) but were swayed by a Yayoi Kusama major exhibition finishing on 4/21. Her museum in Tokyo is closed and she is a favourite artist of ours. So we are looking for exciting things to do in Melbourne, or interesting anyway, that aren't sporty as the bf's MS precludes major physical activity. Any suggestions very welcome. Thanks.

P.E. Hey Petra, what works by Yayoi Kusama made the biggest impression on you while you were visiting the exhibition?

Thomas J We enjoyed seeing the penguin parade on Phillip Island; it's not exactly an art gallery kind of thing, tho. The park deals very well with mobility issues.

Katy Just returned from a lengthy holiday and did go to Melbourne and her exhibit… it’s brilliant! It was hugely attended. We actually stumbled upon it accidentally. Hope you enjoy it … loved Melbourne!

Her first 'infinity box', the pumpkin patch, I think, but actually so many did, it is really hard to decide. I think I liked her later work (not latest) when she discovered colour rather than the earlier less colourful nets etc. Are you a big fan of hers?

It was phenomenal, one of the best exhibitions I've seenin the last year along with the Surrealists in the Louvre.

Sarah (is clearing her shelves) I'm glad you had a good time at the exhibition. What else did you end up seeing?

Jonathan O'Neill If you get a chance, Petra, go have dinner at Pastuso! One of my favourite restaurants here in Melbourne! Peruvian. Be sure to get a few Pisco sours down the hatch while you're there 😁

I'm in New Zealand now, Queenstown, but we are going on a road trip tomorrow. Yesterday we flew over the Southern Alps and did a cruise tour up the Milford Sound. Absolutely magical, the scenery here is like no other. But it's cold. Snow tomorrow.

Thank you. I never really went away. I've always checked books out and read reviews, but I got really depressed and didn't want any communication, which included writing reviews in case I got comments. IRL I just lived in my little rainforest home and even got rid of my car so I only went out once a week. Right now I'm travelling with my bf, about 5 months in all now - I don't know anyone at all except him in any of these countries, so it suits me. I'm kind of getting more open now though, so hopefully the black dog of the last two years will be behind me. Thank you again for such an uplifting (to me) comment.

Janet I second the feeling. I was concerned and am very glad to see your name on the page again.

The highlights were Adam Kay's one man show of This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor (brilliant), a lot of aboriginal art - which I knew about but my partner didn't and was absolutely knocked out. Then in Sydney a fabulous one-woman show - Heather Mitchell in RBG - Of Many, One at the Sydney Opera House.

Also the kangaroos and koalas in the zoo - zoos are not my thing but mypartner had never seen a kangaroo or koala live. There was a mother kangaroo, cuddling her almost-full-size baby, and it melted my heart.

We are in NZ now, a place called Twizel looking at lakes and snow-capped mountains. And reading books.
