I read several reviews that called the plot confusing to follow and the setting difficult to discern. So far, neither has been an issue. Instead, the book feels quite at home in contemporary woes—maybe 4 decades advanced—and speaks with a grounded and tender tone that remains detached from the logic and despair that drive said woes. I enjoyed “Peace Like a River” and am quite excited for this read.
