I mean it's a misogynistic fantasy of dominating a woman who is labeled as a "demon" for just not loving him back. But i don't think he loved her any way, he does not love his personality, only her body. But he sees himself as the eternal victim of her.
Then she loses her memory and he gets to create a new her that is sweet, submissive and infantile. So he loves her
It's from 1918, so i'm grateful for feminism.
