Any enjoyment I had in the early going’s of this book were just sapped away. Maybe it’ll change who knows

I’m reminded that the constant reminders of drunkenness in Bukowski’s writing get old pretty quickly, but ultimately, this is a story of a misanthropic man who has outcast himself, one who has been hurt, and for whatever reason has found refuge in alcoholic drifting. It’s very cutthroat, to the point, and I’ve definitely laughed a few times, so that’s good.

I’m famously a bukowski hater, but I found this first British edition 1981 copy worth like $200 for $7 at grimey’s, so maybe the universe wants me to give him another go
