Savannah Lea Morello I’m not sure I will agree with Boersma on anything or everything, but he is finally asking the questions I’ve been trying to articulate since I started with philosophy

Andrew McNeely This was an important book for me when I was asking questions, too. What questions for you?

Andrew McNeely (And I haven’t stopped asking questions, either lol)

Savannah Lea Morello A lot of my questions are semiotic—questions of meaning. I like that he is looking for a distinction between sign and sacrament. I’ve been looking for someone else to make that distinction and give an ontology to explain how they differ. While I don’t think Boersma’s explanation is correct, his discussion is giving me the words to articulate my own position and develop it. Ultimately, I think I care about semiotics because it’s an inroad to axiology. Meaning is not too far off from worth.

Andrew McNeely That’s a really great question, along with those implicated connections, to pursue!
