I read the Frege paper some years ago and always wanted to return to it. Now after having read the first chapters of Davidson's Inquiries into Truth and Interpretation, I finally do. I strongly agreed with Kripke's demand that indirect senses should be directly self-revelatory and with his his favouring of "frankly inegalitarian" ways of conceiving reference. i am curious about what I will think now about it.

I read the Frege paper many years ago and I was very impressed by Kripke's notion of having "direct acquaintance" with senses (reminded me much of Plato's talk of the philosopher's vision of the forms). Davidson's paper on learnable languages made me finally revisit it.
