This is a great account of Romes early decay. Duncan showcases increasing political corruption, constant warfare, and the breakdown of political norms. As Rome ran out of enemies, Duncan shows us a civilization that consumes itself. It is fascinating as much as it is a horrifying account of how quickly a system can change for the worse.
