Adversity from hardships that both Sage and Len go through then impacts other people and yourself. Len has had a hardship of panic attacks in the past. So, as Sage has an attack, Len is able to help her and give "advice she'd read, about how to come down from an attack" (Carpenter 125). If Len had never had an attack before, Sage would be stuck alone, fending for herself. So, Len grew in courage, and Sage got help.

I disagree with Sage not telling anyone about her heart condition/secret volleyball team. I believe that she may not tel anyone because it could effect her popularity status, friends liking her, coaches, parents, and people who see her as the "volleyball star". She doesn't want to lose any of that, so she decides to not tell anyone.
