“So. You two? Last night? Finally?” His blue eyes snapped back to her face. “Come on, Dallas. It was always a question of ‘when’, not ‘if’ with you two. We all saw it.”
“You did?” he asked, genuinely unnerved.
“You’re surrounded by bodyguards on constant high-alert and highly-trained observant military types. You really think we don’t know love when we see it right in front of our faces?”

When Olivia started to cry, he wasn’t at all surprised. She’d been through a lot over the past week, and he knew that the shock of knowing that some stranger had been in her bedroom – yet again – was going to hit her sometime. He rolled off her now, pulling her in to his arms. He held her tight against him, murmured to her that she was safe.

She gazed up at Dallas and he saw that she still trusted him completely. That faith in him staggered him: it was humbling and somehow beautiful. Dallas loved knowing that when she looked at him, she saw him at his best… strong, tender, capable. He’d give anything to kiss her right now..

He’d been angered at what had happened to those women, but also inspired by their courage. He knew damn well that true courage didn’t always carry on a public battle, that some of the bravest acts were internal and silent.
